WellNested — Reimagining The New Parenthood Experience

The Problem

Bringing a child into the world poses a unique set of challenges. Many new parents struggle to findthe right care after birth, and there are many institutions who want to support families but find it difficult to be connected to them. Given how much better the experience could be based on the care being provided to women in the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Singapore and others, the co-founders of WellNested knew connecting maternal wellness experts to new families didn’t have to be so challenging.

What The Company Does

Today, WellNested makes it fast, simple, and affordable for families to connect with trusted postpartum care experts for in-home and virtual care, recommended based on their unique needs, with expert guidance every step of the way. While helping new parents, WellNested also provides technology that enables providers to establish their businesses, reach more families, and connect to a community of like-minded maternal health advocates for professional development and support.

Market

The maternal wellness market is viewed as a $9B market with roughly 2.4M births a year in their target demographic and an average annual household spending of $3.9K on pre-natal and post-natal services. In addition, hospital-based maternity costs represent an additional $80B market. WellNested’s competitors include Robyn, Tot Squad, Maven Clinic, Oula, and Mahmee. The company’s advantage resides in the deep expertise of its founding team; a unique user experience that reflects the care journey for each service; its strategy to invest in experts on the supply side; and its strong commitment to blend in-home and virtual care.

Business Model

WellNested is monetizing in three ways: Membership access to their platform; a value-added digital toolkit for providers; and a take-rate, where the company takes a percentage of spend booked through the platform.

Traction

WellNested participated in the MIT Delta V Accelerator in 2019 and launched in May 2020. Since then, the company has served over 200 families in the Boston area with revenue growth compounding at more than 120% quarterly in their initial test market. WellNested also expanded into two new provider categories, doubled per customer revenue, and started monetizing their platform. More specifically, the company is anticipating its second quarter report to show roughly $130K in top-line revenue.

Founding Team Background

Co-Founder Stephanie Rampello was born, raised, and educated in Massachusetts among a family of doctors and nurses. She gained extensive experience working with U.S. healthcare strategy and operations experts while at Accenture and Fresenius, and ultimately served as the healthcare practice leader for MIT while studying maternal care delivery globally. Co-Founder Karina Akib hails from Australia, where she noticed that people receive far better postnatal care than those in the U.S. Prior to WellNested, she spent her career using tech to improve the lives of those who need it most at BCG, Google, and Iterative Scopes.

The Ask

WellNested is currently looking to raise a multi-million dollar round from strategic angels or institutional seed stage funds in order to refine product market fit and expand. Aside from this, the team loves connecting with those interested in consumer health, marketplaces, and women’s health. Connect With The WellNested Team.
